The Rat Pack star wed the Swedish actress in 1960, when interracial marriage was still illegal in 31 states. Davis was even booed at the Democratic national convention by supporters of John F. Kennedy. Over the course of their union, the couple were the target of hate mail and harassment. They divorced in 1968.
