Pearl Jam Take on Ticketmaster
YouTube
In 1994, Pearl Jam was riding high on the crest of fame. However, things came to a halt when they discovered Ticketmaster had added a service fee to their tickets. During a debacle that involved the United States Department of Justice, Pearl Jam embarked on an extended boycott of the company even going so far as to cancel their 1994 tour. They kept up the boycott for years, with their anti-Ticketmaster stance severely hindering their ability to tour. The Justice Department investigation was eventually dismissed, no other artists joined the fight and fans complained about not being able to easily see Pearl Jam, so the band eventually gave up its fight in 1998. And yeah, service fees still suck.
