Martha Reeves

Martha Reeves of Martha and the Vandellas fame went from Motown star to Motown councilwoman. In 2005, the legend behind songs like 'Dancing in the Street' and (the now-ironic) 'Nowhere to Run' was elected to Detroit council. Although she showed a lot of enthusiasm when it came to naming a street after her former boss, Motown founder Barry Gordy Jr, her other efforts left much to be desired and she sometimes missed important votes because she was on tour. Since her term ended in 2009, Reeves has returned to music full-time.
