2 Live Crew member Luther "Uncle Luke" Campbell announced that he was running for mayor of Miami-Dade County on February 2, 2011. The controversial hip-hop artist's campaign, which focused on transparency in local government, building gated communities in the inner city and taxing strippers failed to inspire the people of Miami-Dade. Campbell came in fourth with 11 percent of the vote. Uncle Luke now shares his views of pop-culture, sports and politics in his column for the Miami New Times.
