At the height of her popularity as an actress and the Queen of 70's pop, Australian-American singer Helen Reddy was also a member of California's Parks Commission. In 1977, Governor Jerry Brown appointed the Grammy-winning and Golden Globe nominated singer of feminist anthem 'I Am Woman' to the commission. Reddy, a longtime environmental activist, served as the state's Parks and Recreation Commissioner for three years.
