Joey Ramone, known to his mom as Jeffrey Ross Hyman, and known to leather-jacketed punks worldwide as the singer of the Ramones died due to complications from lymphatic cancer. His death would prompt a star-studded vigil featuring the likes of Joan Jett, Deborah Harry, and Dictators singer Handsome Dick Manitoba at New York punk club CBGB.
