September 1, 1983: The Clash Fired Mick Jones

Should I stay or should I go wasn't exactly an option for Mick Jones, who was fired from The Clash by band members Paul Simonon and Joe Strummer.
There had been serious in-fighting in The Clash for months leading up to Jones' firing, until it got to the point where the other members said they just didn't want to be in a band with Jones anymore.
Jones would go on to join General Public and then form Big Audio Dynamite with filmmaker Don Letts. B.A.D. would have a number of moderate hit singles over the course of the next few years. Also, perhaps burying Clash hatchet, Strummer and Simonon ended up contributing to the band as well, doing production work and making cover art, respectively.
