August 5, 1966: The Beatles 'Revolver' Album Was Released
Capitol
The Beatles released their seventh album, Revolver. Featuring songs like "Eleanor Rigby," "Taxman" and "Yellow Submarine," it's considered by many to be the Fab Four's crowning artistic achievement and a regular on all those "Best Of" album lists that everyone does.
It was also the Beatles' first proper foray into psychedelic rock with the sonically adventurous closing track "Tomorrow Never Knows."
Also notable this week in music history: On August 8, 1969 the Beatles shot their iconic Abbey Road album cover.
