The Who's drummer Keith Moon got more than he bargained for when he attempted to flee a group of rowdy pub patrons that had been attacking his Bentley 43 years ago.
Moon's chauffeur, friend and bodyguard, Neil Boland, is said to have jumped out of the car in an attempt to get the mass of people to move out of the way.
A drunk Moon might have got behind the wheel of the car to drive it away himself, not realizing that Boland had been pushed under the vehicle by the crowd in the meantime. Unfortunately, Boland did not survive the incident.
Police investigated the incident and absolved Moon of responsibility.
Sources close to Moon say he never got over the incident and was haunted by it for the remainder of his life.
