December 23, 1977: Cat Stevens Converts to Islam

"Peace Train" singer Cat Stevens announced he was changing his name to Yusuf Islam and converting to the Islamic religion.
In 2004 the British folk singer was put on the Department of Homeland Security's no-fly list, which prevented him from working with Dolly Parton. That incident resulted in British papers claiming he supported terrorism. Islam sued those papers for libel and won.
