Legendary British soul singer Dusty Springfield died at age 59 from cancer. The "Son of a Preacher Man" was consider the first lady of the original British Invasion and recorded numerous hits like "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" and "Stay Awhile."
Also on this day in 2008 Jeff Healey, the blind blues master and "Road House" co-star with Patrick Swayze, died from cancer. He was 41.
