January 25, 1981: Joy Division Make Their Live Debut

Dour post-punk band Joy Division made their live debut in Manchester, England, performing at a club called Pips. The band would burn out quickly as singer Ian Curtis committed suicide in May 1980 on the eve of the band's first U.S. tour.
The remaining members would go on to form New Order.
