January 29, 1979: 'I Don't Like Mondays' Shooting

The Boomtown Rats most famous song "I Don't Like Mondays" found its inspiration when 16-year-old Californian Brenda Spencer killed 2 adults and injured 9 kids in a shooting spree at Grover Cleveland Elementary School. When asked why she did it, Spencer famously said "I don't like Mondays."

Spencer, who was gay and suffered from depression and epilepsy, was sentence 25 years to life in prison.
