July 3, 1969 & 1971: Rolling Stones' Brian Jones and The Doors' Jim Morrison Died
Hulton Archive | Hulton Archive
In 1969, Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones was found drowned in the swimming pool of his English home. He had consumed drugs and alcohol at the time and the coroner would eventually rule his was a "death by misadventure." In 1971, the lizard king himself, Jim Morrison of The Doors, was found dead in a bathtub in Paris, France from a heart attack.
The moral of this story? If you're a drug-taking, hard-drinking rock star you should probably stay away from water on July 3.
