July 9, 1995: Jerrry Garcia Plays Last Concert With Grateful Dead, Heart Problems All Around

Grateful Dead spiritual leader Jerry Garcia would play his last concert with the band at Chicago's Soldier Field. He would die a month later of a heart attack.
The 9th has traditionally signaled bad times ahead for rock stars who are weak of heart. On this date in 1999 Elton John received a pacemaker and in 2004 David Bowie had corrective heart surgery.
