In 1979 Neil Young would debut his concert film -- and its related album -- Rust Never Sleeps at the Bruin Theatre in Westwood, CA. The Rust Never Sleeps songs would be considered amongst Young's best and Kurt Cobain went so far as to quote from "My, My, Hey, Hey (Out of the Blue)" in his suicide note.
In a scenario that was almost career suicide, July 11, 2000 was the day that Lars Ulrich of Metallica testified at a U.S. Senate hearing about the copyright laws and the evils of mp3 internet piracy. Lars won and nobody listens to mp3 music any more.
