June 30, 1977: Marvel Debuts a Comic Book About Rock Band KISS

Foreshadowing a future that would include KISS shirts for your dog, KISS DVD board games, KISS "Kondoms," and KISS caskets, cartoonish rock band KISS would be immortalized in actual cartoon form courtesy of Marvel Comics. The band would revisit the comic idea again in in 1997 with Todd McFarlane's Kiss: Psycho Circus book.
