May 16, 1966: Beach Boys Release 'Pet Sounds'
Capitol Records
The Beach Boys released the album Pet Sounds in the U.S. According to Paul McCartney, the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper wouldn't exist without Pet Sounds. So, y'know, thank you. Also officially released on this very same May 16 was Bob Dylan's classic 'Blonde on Blonde.'
