May 17, 1987: Tom Petty's Full Moon Fire

An arsonist set fire to, and destroyed Tom Petty's home in Los Angeles -- with him still in it. His family barely escaped the blaze and his housekeeper's hair actually caught on fire. His hit song "I Won't Back Down" is specifically about the incident.
