May 22, 1989: Professor Griff Fired from Public Enemy
Rap group Public Enemy fired its "minister of information" Professor Griff after he told the Washington Post "Jews are responsible for the majority of the wickedness in the world." Griff says his anti-Semitic quotes were taken out of context and points the fact that the Post has never made the audio recordings of the interview available for public scrutiny as proof. Griff would (quietly) rejoin the group in 1994.
