May 28, 1996: Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan Overdoses, Almost Dies

Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan would overdose on a speedball of cocaine and heroin at the Sunset Marquis hotel in Los Angeles. It's considered one of four almost-deaths Gahan has suffered, including a heart attack in '93, a suicide attempt in '95, and a bout of gastroenteritis in 2009.
