November 16, 1988: A Love Brother Harms Beach Boys

For years Beach Boys fans and Brian Wilson supporters have vilified band member Mike Love.

However, Nov. 16 is a good day to remind those fans that a Love brother who wasn't in the band has also caused grief. This, because in 1988 Stan Love, a former basketball player (seen above in a photo with the Baltimore Bullets) and the personal bodyguard/minder for Brian Wilson, received a five year suspended sentence for embezzling over $300,000 from the group.

Additionally, in 1982 Stan Love served six months probation for invading the home of and assaulting Denis Wilson, Brian's brother and fellow band member.
