November 23, 2008: Guns n' Roses Release 'Chinese Democracy'
Geffen
More than 19 years after releasing the band's last original music, Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II, Guns n' Roses (now mostly Hired Guns n' Axl Rose) released their sixth studio album Chinese Democracy.
Though the album has sold platinum in a number of countries, probably the most interesting thing about it was when the makers of Dr. Pepper promised a free can of pop to everyone in the U.S. if the album actually came out as scheduled in 2008. The album did come out, so Dr. Pepper attempted to make good on their offer... except they bungled the giveaway and Gn'R's lawyer blasted them for it.
