November 24, 2003: Glen Campbell Arrested For Drunk Driving
AP
Apparently country legend Glen Campbell's song "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" had a hidden second meaning because the singer was arrested in that city and charged with drunk-driving and hit-and-run.
Campbell drove his BMW into another car at an intersection and then kept on driving home. When police caught up to him and brought him into the station he apparently tried to knee a sergeant in the nuts as well, which earned him an additional aggravated assault charge.
The assault charge was dropped and Campbell eventually served 10 days in jail for extreme DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
