November 18, 1970: Jerry Lee Lewis Divorces His Cousin-Wife
BIPS
Combative rock 'n' roll pianist Jerry Lee Lewis officially divorced Myra Brown, his wife of 13 years, in Memphis, Tennessee. Myra was Lewis' third wife which was notable because she was his first cousin and 13-years-old when they married. He was 22 at the time.
The institute of marriage wasn't exactly sacred to Lewis. He was married seven separate times, though the legality of the second marriage is questionable because he may not have officially been divorced from wife one when marriage two happened.
November is bad for Lewis. On Nov. 23, 1976 he was arrested for wandering around outside of Elvis Presley's Graceland estate waving a gun and demanding to see "the King."
