November 8, 1971: Led Zeppelin Releases IV
Atlantic
Led Zeppelin released their fourth album, IV (or "ZOSO," "Four Symbols," or "The Fourth Album" if you're a difficult person to get along with).
The album featured classic rock radio staples "Stairway to Heaven," "Black Dog" and "Rock and Roll," and went on to go 23x platinum in the U.S., 6x platinum in the U.S. and 2x diamond in Canada.
The album also features no less than two songs that directly reference Lord of the Rings. Hobbit rock!
