November 3, 1993: Leon Theremin Died
Topical Press Agency
It was a sad day for fans of spooky noises everywhere when Russian inventor, Leon Theremin died at age 97.
The inventor created the musical instrument the theremin in 1920. It would later be used by Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and most notably, the Beach Boys on the song "Good Vibrations."
All those creepy sounds in old sci-fi movies like The Day the Earth Stood Still are also theremin.
