Gibson guitars, the products used by such legendary shredders as Eric Clapton (seen above), formed on this day in 1902 as Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Mfg. Co, Ltd.
Gibson's first electric guitar was made in 1936 and the first of the company's signature Les Paul models was made in 1952.
