September 2, 2005: Kanye West Cares About Black People
MSNBC
Rapper Kanye West declared that then-U.S. President George Bush Jr. "doesn't care about black people" in the middle of a televised charity concert to raise funds for those affected by Hurricane Katrina which decimated New Orleans. West, who made the comment while co-hosting with Mike Myers, was upset by the government's perceived slow reaction in helping those affected.
Bush would go on to say it was one of the lowest moments in his presidency.
