The biggest scandal of the day was when Michael Jackson's iconic crystal-beaded glove was stolen from the Motown Museum in Detroit by a fan.
Police and museum officials had offered a no-questions-asked amnesty for its return and MC Hammer doubled-down with a $50,000 reward of his own money for the glove.
Working on an anonymous tip that fingered him, police eventually got their hands on one Bruce Hayes, who had stolen the bedazzled mitt. Hayes was charged with larceny and given two years probation and 20 hours community service.
