The iconic image of a naked John Lennon curled around Yoko Ono for the cover of the Rolling Stone was declared the best U.S. magazine cover by a panel of editors, artists and designers.
The photograph by Annie Leibovitz was taken the same day Lennon was shot and killed in New York by Mark David Chapman.
