October 19, 2007: Johnny Marr Becomes a Professor

Johnny Marr, the former guitarist for The Smiths and contributor to acts like Electronic, Modest Mouse, The The and The Cribs, was made a visiting professor at the University of Salford in Manchester, England. Marr would lecture and workship with students chasing the BA Popular Music and Recording degree.
Marr has also been named an Honourary Patron of University Philosophical Society, Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. In 2012, the University of Salford gave him an honourary doctorate.
