Warren G. Harding once remarked that he "played every instrument but the slide trombone and the E-flat cornet." As a young politician, he organized the Citizen's Cornet Band, which was available for both Republican and Democratic rallies. Unfortunately, Harding's excesses were not reserved for music -- his presidency was plagued by a number of scandals, though as far as we know, he never pulled a rock-star move like trashing a hotel.
