29. Tennis, 'Young and Old'
It’s pretty ballsy to name the first song on Tennis’ second album “It All Feels The Same.” It came out less than a year after their debut and landed firmly within the bounds of their initial throwback indie-pop sound. But for those of us who fell more for Tennis’ '60s-inspired tunes than their husband-and-wife-and-sailboat sales pitch, more girl group, garage and surf-influenced music is like another ace serve. But it’s more than that, too, with Black Keys’ Patrick Carney behind the boards to give their shimmering songcraft just enough weight that they don’t all, actually, feel the same. -- Joshua Ostroff
