Back to Unplugged: The Five Best and Worst Acoustic Albums
BEST: Foo Fighters -- 'Skin and Bones'
RCA
Released in 2006, this 15-song live acoustic set from Dave Grohl and co. was recorded at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles. While it has its share of arena-rock moments that steer it away from its stripped-down premise -- this is the freaking Foo Fighters after all -- the album's best bare-bones tracks ("Big Me," a resplendent strings-laden "Times Like These" and Nirvana B-side "Marigold") offer proof that this is a band that burns with intensity, even when the amps aren't turned up to 11.
