March 15, 1983: Rock Groupie Cathy Smith is Indicted

Cathy Smith was indicted for second-degree murder for providing the drugs that killed comedian John Belushi in March 1982.
Smith -- backup singer for The Band and Gordon Lightfoot's one-time mistress -- later admitted to the National Enquirer that she was responsible for Belushi's death. The interview, along with a call by Belushi’s wife, led to the case being reopened and Smith’s indictment.
