Back to When Airlines Destroy Musical Instruments
6) Dale Watson -- Tiger Airways (Australia, 2011)

Perhaps inspired partially by Dave Carroll, Texas guitarist Dale Watson ended up having some of his merchandise (120 CDs) misplaced while touring. He took to Youtube with a song about the problem called "Tiger Airways." "They charged me $500 in excess baggage fees," Watson sang of the incident, which saw him flying from Sydney to Byron Bay. The tune, performed in a Johnny Cash style, had Watson referring to the company as "We Don't Care Ways" and it slowly attracted visits. Watson named two employees of the airline in the song, and shortly thereafter Tiger Airways contacted Watson. The Daily Mail reported the company sent him 1,300 BP ($2,101 US) in compensation. So Watson got reimbursed, an apology, and a song out of the ordeal.
