Sons of Maxwell singer/guitarist Dave Carroll was en route on United from Halifax to Omaha, Nebraska in 2008 when he discovered his guitar was damaged. Not satisfied with the airline's response, Carroll turned the incident into a song called "United Breaks Guitars" and posted it on Youtube. The video went viral and caused United Airlines a public relations nightmare. Carroll penned two more songs in 2009 and 2010, including "United We Stand on the Right Side of Right" explaining United eventually changing their tune. Coincidentally, in 2009 United also lost Carroll's luggage as he went to play a convention about customer service.
