7) Dave Davies -- Unknown Airline (1965)

Although the airline is unknown, The Kinks guitarist Dave Davies was forced to find a new instrument for the band's performance in Los Angeles in 1965 on the television show Shindig. In a 1977 interview with Guitar Player, Davies revealed that he was forced to play a Futura guitar for the gig. "When I flew to L.A. to do the show, my guitar was lost on the airline," he said. "I was heartbroken." Davies went to a store to pick up an instrument, selecting one which looked like what would become a Gibson Flying V model.
