How Goth is... Esben and the Witch?
Jonathan Hyde
"Esben and the Witch is another group I think flirts with enough elements of goth to count. What I like about them perhaps more than the other groups on the list is they tap into the loud, noisy angry elements of goth. And their like ritualistic rhythms in their drums and in their performances bring an energy that other electro acts sort of don't have. I think in terms of guitar bands of the last while they're pretty goth-y. And they've got 'Witch' in the title. Esben and the Witch doesn't wear fishnets or white pancake makeup, but I think they're carrying on that tradition of UK noisy angry Batcave music.
