It's a good thing they only unveiled it only in spurts at first -- the full line-up is so stacked and top-heavy it's hard to take it all in at once. Seriously.

GalacticWhile MTV may have recently removed the word "music" from its logo, New Orleans' Galactic is resurrecting that network's abandoned "Total Request Live" ("TRL") show, albeit in their own funky way. Galactic's TRL stands for "Throwdown Request Live" and the band launched the series recently with jam rockers Tea Leaf Green in New York and Philadelphia.

The second part of Galactic's TRL series will take place later this month in St. Louis, Denver and Missoula when they welcome co-headliners Karl Denson's Tiny Universe to the stage for a special one-time jam featuring both full bands. The foundation for the jams will be a classic rock staple, which will be different at all three stops. George ClintonFunk mastermind George Clinton is in mourning over not one but three big losses in recent months. Most immediately, Clinton's 50-year-old son, George Clinton Jr., passed away from liver disease on February 1. Junior sang backup on many P-Funk cuts and had been working with his own band, GCIII, in Florida leading up to his untimely death. A maintenance man found his body inside his apartment after nobody had seen him for a few days. He is survived by his daughter, Shonda Clinton, who fans may know as P-Funk rapper Sativa Diva.

On February 5, Clinton suffered a second significant loss to his extended P-Funk family with the passing of singer Mahlia Franklin. Wintertime means cold weather and heavy snowfall for those of us in non-tropical climes, which is a mixed blessing. Sure, there's snowboarding and snowmen, but how does that help when your car is stuck in a snowdrift? More than a few artists have mined the rich metaphoric potential of winter in music videos, usually to melancholy and SAD effect (that's Seasonal Affective Disorder, by the way). The full 15-minute version of this excerpt from 'The Water' is more short film than video, with the moody and melancholic title song floating through only briefly. It's a mysterious, near-silent opus directed by Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew, and it stars Cillian Murphy (of '28 Days Later' fame), veteran Canadian actor David Fox and Ms. Leslie Feist herself. Father and son lug a mummy-like corpse through still and snowy woods to a cabin. But the cadaver soon proves to have a little life in it yet. Chromeo's P-Thugg is on the hunt -- for tales to tell his future grandchildren, that is. Considering the bizzaro assortment of gigs these electro-funk lovers have booked of late -- from world-famous museums to the Winter Olympics -- the gold-toothed half of the debonair dance duo will have no shortage of vocodered words of wisdom to dispense to his descendents when the time comes.

There was the sweaty DJ set at New York's Guggenheim last Friday night on the swan song soirée of the museum's First Fridays Art After Dark series. "It was really cool cause it's a beautiful place, kind of weird and crazy cool," growled Pee, on the horn from the Williamsburg, Brooklyn studio where he and Dave 1 are making Chromeo's third album, aiming for a summer release.

Alas, First Fridays will be no more. Little BootsAlmost a year after she put the finishing touches on her debut album in Los Angeles, British electro-pop chanteuse Little Boots is dropping that effort, 'Hands,' stateside.

Art Brut's Eddie ArgosAs the charismatic frontman for Art Brut, Eddie Argos has a lot of experience starting bands -- it was even chronicled in the group's first single, 'Formed a Band.' Now, along with his girlfriend and keyboard player Dyan Valdes of the Blood Arms, Argos has started another act: Everybody Was in the French Resistance ... Now!

"We were talking about how a history teacher used to say people would alter history," Argos tells Spinner. "So it made sense that we'd want to try ourselves. Gemma RayOn Gemma Ray's latest record, 'Lights Out Zoltar!,' she leads with a track called '100mph (in 2nd Gear),' a song that's steeped in a southwestern sound with Ray's sweeping voice sounding quite panic stricken. For the accompanying video, she takes a page from the David Lynch storybook, creating a surreal yet loose narrative of a lounge singer who's in some sort of wild dream state. She winds up with her getting into a car with a mysterious stranger, who just happens to have a rubber band.

"I wanted to bring out the visual poetry of how the song sounds," Ray tells Spinner of the video shoot. Kiko VenenoIt's said that only a thousand people bought the Velvet Underground's debut album when it was first released in 1967 -- but every one of them started a band.

Veneno may be the Andalusian Velvet Underground, at least in that regard. Coming a decade later, Veneno's lone album didn't bear much musical relation to the VU, but it marked a similar place in the history of Spanish rock, a revolutionary, raw and progressive take on flamenco traditions that barely made a blip on the pop radar but could well be seen as a wellspring of a new era. Not least of that was that as the Velvet Underground led to the higher-profile solo careers of Lou Reed and John Cale, Veneno begat the teaming of brothers Raimundo and Rafael Amador as the iconic nuevo flamenco duo Pata Negra, as well as a solid solo career from leader and eponym Kiko Veneno.

Now there's another chance to embrace this bracing music. 'Veneno' is being reissued by the Spanish label Vinilisssimo. And in a nice bit of symmetry, it's a limited edition of a thousand high-grade vinyl copies, available in the US via Forced Exposure. When indie-pop outfit Los Campesinos! played a record release show at London's Rough Trade East store on Jan. 31 in support of new album 'Romance is Boring,' one song was noticeably absent from their set list. For the first time in recent memory, the band did not play 'You! Me! Dancing!,' the joyful anthem that helped break the band in 2007.

The group was a little nervous about the removal but the fallout wasn't as severe as expected. "People didn't seem to mind. At least, no one complained to me about it!" Harriet Campesinos, who plays violins and keyboard in the seven-piece band, tells Spinner. Keith RichardsAfter 40-plus years on the sauce, Rolling Stones guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood have both decided to give up the hooch. If that's not enough, the recently estranged bandmates have reportedly mended fences and come together to help one another with their mutual recoveries.

goldfrappElectro-pop duo Goldfrapp embraces their positive side on 'Rocket (Richard X Eight Four Remix),' the club-ready single off their forthcoming fifth album, 'Head First.' "I got happy," Alison Goldfrapp admitted to Rolling Stone in a recent interview, attributing the group's newfound optimism to a series of unnameable life decisions.

While the London musicians are no strangers to synthesizer-based pop, they put extra emphasis on songwriting this time around. According to Will Gregory, "It was more about the way the songs work melodically than it was about being a big electronic racket. We're just trying to evolve, get closer to the essence of what a bloody good song is."

Rivers Cuomo of WeezerRather than take the traditional route of making a big lineup announcement, Bonnaroo organizers are taking a different tack this year: they're letting the artists make the announcements themselves.

Starting at 10AM ET today, bands booked for the annual festival have been revealing their plans to head to Manchester, Tenn. this June. So far, Weezer, Phoenix, OK Go, Flaming Lips (performing Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' in its entirety), Dave Matthews Band, Baroness, Isis, Avett Brothers, Jeff Beck, John Fogerty, She and Him, Gwar, Regina Spektor, Medeski, Martin and Wood, Norah Jones, the Dead Weather, Zac Brown Band, Jay-Z, Stevie Wonder and more are confirmed, and organizers will publish the full list later today. MGMTMGMT are set to release their second album, 'Congratulations,' on April 13, with a few special guests, Spin reports. The record features Royal Trux's Jennifer Herrena helping out on vocals, Spaceman 3 principle Sonic Boom producing and the group's live band contributing as well. They also tapped 'Oracular Spectacular' producer Dave Fridmann for mixing duties and spent time recording in upstate New York, Brooklyn and Malibu.

While we've known that one of the tracks, 'Lady DaDa's Nightmare,' was indeed about the ubiquitous pop star Lady Gaga as well as Kanye West, we're now learning that the group has rounded up a bevy of other influences this time on the nine-track set.
