Potent Quotables: Iggy Rips Rockers

"[They're] idiot thugs with guitars ... Anyone from Smashing Pumpkins to – what's the one with Fred Durst?" --Iggy Pop

The punk legend told us all how he really felt about the state of rock recently when he accused Billy Corgan and Limp Bizkit of producing, in his words, "crappy music."

Billy Corgan Releases Collaboration With the Late Sky Saxon

Prior to his death last week, Seeds singer Sky Saxon teamed with Billy Corgan to write and record a duet called 'Choose to Choose Love.' A video of the previously unreleased tune is available on a Facebook page dedicated to the late garage rocker.

"Sky lived everyday with the concept of love as his guide, and he walked the talk," blogged the Smashing Pumpkins frontman in a recent post. "He was a spiritual warrior who would tell me that Yahowha knew the beauty of our hearts, and that musicians were the living prophets of the world." Corgan also posted the lyrics for the song here.

Billy Corgan Wants Fans to Subscribe to Him

Billy Corgan (who, as he would point out, is the Smashing Pumpkins) has reinstated his membership to the "Oh, what will they do next?" club for fledgling rock stars, dead rock stars' ex-wives and the occasional inheritance celebrity. His most recent submission to the imaginary club's activity list is the establishment of another club of sorts: for $40, fans can purchase 12-week access to Corgan's internet updates from the studio, including some photos and videos. So, in other words, for a hefty fee, fans can access tomorrow's YouTube clips, today.

This was announced early in the week, and already Corgan has another "most recent submission" to the "Oh, What Will They Do Next?" club: As posted on Pitchfork (and YouTube ... without having to pay $40), Corgan seems to have borrowed Eminem's hoodie for an awkward appearance in a Lockdown pay-per-view Total Nonstop Action Wrestling commercial. Sadly, unlike many wrestling matches themselves, this appears to actually be real. No wonder he feels like a rat in a cage.

Potent Quotables: Corgan Calls Himself Out

"It's a dumb name, but I chose it 'cause I thought it was funny." --Billy Corgan

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman took to his blog to vent about the state of his band, and admitted that his group's moniker was a joke. He clarified "yes, funny in 1987."

Billy Corgan Hooks Up With Tila Tequila

Of all the headlines we've ever had to type. The lone-standing Smashing Pumpkins man and reality TV star were spotted together on the red carpet at Bravo's A-List Awards. Was it an April Fools' Day gag? Nope, that day has come and gone. That leaves one thing to say: Billy, you got some splainin' to do.

Auf Der Maur Talks Smashing Pumpkins, Hole Reunions

Having played in two of the biggest bands from the alternative scene's heyday in the '90s, calling Melissa Auf Der Maur's pedigree impressive would be an understatement. "Playing in Hole and Smashing Pumpkins was an incredible education period of mine, like unbelievable," she tells Spinner. "It was the best music and social education and life I could have ever asked for."

Unfortunately for her fans, it doesn't look like Auf Der Maur will be reuniting with either band anytime soon, though the Pumpkins did have a little reunion recently. "I haven't seen any of the Pumpkins' reunion shows, but I'd like to," she says. "There was a brief conversation once about me rejoining but it didn't happen. We're on good terms and I'm a huge Pumpkins fan. Opening for them was how I even got involved in any of these bands to begin with."

Potent Quotables: Corgan Calls the Shots

"We're done with the record business, so we're free to do whatever I want." --Billy Corgan

In a recent interview, the notoriously dogmatic Smashing Pumpkins frontman was unapologetic about his egotism, adding, "... whatever I want -- that's right."
