Noel Gallagher Says Yes to Drugs

While some keep their drug use under the radar, Oasis' Noel Gallagher admitted to spending £1 million on drugs till he kicked the habit in 1998. Despite all the cash he dropped on drugs (including doing cocaine in a toilet that was set aside for the Queen of England), Gallagher said he never did heroin, "which kills people and which I have never tried." He stopped using in 1998 "because it is bad for your health, brain, life and for people around you."

Gallagher also slams Coldplay's Chris Martin, who says he has never taken drugs, and calls him an idiot for not doing so. "Doing drugs is the most beautiful thing about being in a rock band," the Oasis guitarist tells Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera.

Yusuf Islam Forgives Coldplay for Allegedly Copying His Song

Yusuf Islam (formerly known as Cat Stevens) is cool with Coldplay now, after first accusing the band of ripping off his song 'Foreigner Suite' on Coldplay's hit, 'Viva La Vida.' In fact, Islam wants to sit down with them for a cup of tea.

"I stand by what I said. They did copy my song but I don't think they did it on purpose," Islam told the Daily Express. "I have even copied myself without even knowing I have done it. I'll write down what I think is a good melody and realize it's the same as something I have already done."

"I don't want them to think I am angry with them," Islam adds. "I'd love to sit down and have a cup of tea with them and let them know it's OK."

Tea is a far cry from a lawsuit, which Islam first insinuated. Perhaps Joe Satriani will have a change of heart, too.

Beastie Boys, Tool Lead All Points West Festival

Who wants to go to Jersey? The All Points West Music and Arts Festival will be coming back to the Garden State this year with an even better lineup than last year's inaugural version. Beginning Friday, July 31st, the three day event will feature the Beastie Boys, Tool and Coldplay as the nightly headliners, respectively. The concert will be held in Jersey City's Liberty State Park, which features views of Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Among the other performers are Echo and the Bunnymen, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, MGMT, Arctic Monkeys, My Bloody Valentine, Gogol Bordello, Vampire Weekend and the Black Keys. And, among the other logistic improvements, fans will be allowed to order seven beers -- two more than last year -- and drink them in areas where they can actually see the stage. Tickets, running $89 for single day passes and $199 for the whole weekend, go on sale Friday.

Potent Quotables: Bono Starting Beef?

"[Chris Martin] is a wanker." --Bono

In a recent interview, the icon slammed Coldplay's frontman, adding "[He's a] dysfunctional character and a cretin." Ouch.

Potent Quotables: Chris' Strange Strategy

"I have to brush my teeth before I go onstage otherwise I don't feel smart enough." --Chris Martin

It's not the pre-performance ritual itself (who doesn't value oral hygiene?), but the logic behind it that has us perplexed.

U2 Fear Killers, Coldplay and Kings of Leon

What are U2 afraid of? Oh, the usual -- Coldplay.

The veteran rockers admit that the Killers and Kings of Leon are also on that list, though they are equally inspired by them.

"In our heads that's who we're up against," Bono told the BBC of their musical competition. "You've got to keep an eye on the youth. Coldplay are such an extraordinary band with such song writing talents. [Chris Martin] is one of the most important melodists since Noel Gallagher, since Ray Davies, since Paul McCartney. I love the fact that the Killers want to get their songs on the radio, too."

Chris Martin Casts Official Oscar Vote

The Best Actor race for this year's Oscars looks like it's neck-and-neck between Sean Penn for his role in 'Milk,' and Mickey Rourke's comeback performance as the lead character in 'The Wrestler.' If Rourke -- who thanked Axl Rose and Bruce Springsteen in his Golden Globes acceptance speech -- takes home the Oscar, he may want to thank Chris Martin this time 'round. The Coldplay frontman tells Key 103 Radio in Manchester that he voted for Rourke.

Normally musicians without any acting credits don't get an Academy Award vote, but Martin, who's married to one-time Best Actress winner Gwyneth Paltrow, just happened to find a ballot laying around the house. "I read the instructions, which is like, you've got to put your top five in order and if the number one that you've chosen isn't really doing very well, then they move on to your number two and include that with the one that is doing well, if you see what I mean," he told the radio station. And while we don't actually know what he means, it seems Martin was smart enough to cast his vote. "I got to put a vote in. I voted for Mickey Rourke. Isn't he great in that film [The Westler]?"

We're sure the Academy appreciates this, Mr. Martin.
