Remember when Courtney Love said she's turning the material for her latest solo album into a new version of Hole? Well, the band's co-founder and ex-guitarist, Eric Erlandson, heard about it and doesn't seem very amused, saying, in his opinion, Hole doesn't exist without him.

While that may sound like artistic ego, Erlandson says it all comes down to business. "We have a contract," Erlandson said in an interview with Spin. "She signed a contract with me when we decided to break up the band, which was like 2002 or something, so I really don't have comment on it except that I know my part in that band. The way I look at it, there is no Hole without me. To put it blunt. Just on a business level."

Courtney Love isn't saying she's anorexic, but she concedes she's looking "painfully thin" lately. "I know I've got too skinny," the Hole frontwoman told the Daily Mirror. "I know I need to sort it out."

Love, who looked downright voluptuous a few years ago, says her doctor diagnosed her with malnutrition two weeks ago. "He gave me a massive shot of vitamins and told me to start eating," said the 44-year-old rocker, who reportedly weighs just 84 pounds and is five feet, 10 inches tall.

Canada's coolest bassist may be in the news because former boss Courtney Love is talking about a new Hole record and tour, but at NXNE Melissa Auf der Maur rocked out with her eponymous band.

But based on her performance at Yonge and Dundas Square, she may be better off with her old alt-rock outfit. Auf der Maur seemed better suited to supporting player status than frontwoman at the NXNE gig.

Auf der Maur still boasts stadium-honed stage presence and attracted a healthy audience for the free show, albeit only half the size of the surprisingly huge turnout for headliners Black Lips, whose ragged garage rock must have scared the bejeezus out of the middle-aged matrons leaving 'Riverdance.'

Courtney Love is reviving Hole for her next album, 'Nobody's Daughter', which is expected by early 2010. But if you're expecting the return of the band's co-founding guitarist, Eric Erlandson, you're out of luck, as Love takes a cue from her old friend Billy Corgan by resurrecting her band in name only.

Hole's first record since 1998's 'Celebrity Skin' will feature bassist Melissa Auf der Maur -- on backing vocals only. And although Auf der Maur will tour with Hole, the disc is predominantly the work of Love and English guitarist Micko Larkin, with songwriting assistance from pop tunesmith Linda Perry and production duties rounded out by Michael Beinhorn.

After an seemingly endless stream of legal and financial troubles, Courtney Love finds herself on the receiving end of a new lawsuit by American Express. The card company claims the 44-year-old rocker owes them a staggering $350,000 in unpaid card charges.

Court documents filed in Los Angeles state that Love "failed and refused" to make payments on her AmEx. Her card has been suspended by the company, which seeks the unpaid balance plus legal fees.

Courtney Love has come to the realization that handlers of the estate of her late husband, Kurt Cobain, have allegedly lost all the money that the Nirvana frontman had left for her and their daughter Frances Bean. A team of lawyers, forensic accountants and investigators have reportedly determined that Cobain's estate has been looted of more than $30 million in cash, and up to $500 million in real estate.

"I have never seen such greed and moral turpitude. This case is going to make Bernard Madoff look warm and fuzzy," Love's lawyer, Rhonda J. Holmes, of Gordon & Holmes in San Diego, told the New York Post. "We will be filing civil cases ... within the next 30 days. There are many, many millions missing. We've only been able to track down $30 million, but there is more. And then there is the real estate."
