Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones Working on New Project

Remember the summer of 2005? Seems so long ago, doesn't it? Led Zeppelin had yet to reunite (they still do, really), the Foo Fighters had a hit record with 'In Your Honor,' and Queens of the Stone Age released not one but two albums sandwiched by a blockbuster tour. Still, that's the year when Foo frontman Dave Grohl dropped the big one in a Mojo Magazine interview.

No, he wasn't planning on reuniting Nirvana by filming a reality-TV series about the search for Kurt Cobain's replacement. Instead, he was looking to form a new power trio featuring him on drums, naturally, QOTSA's Josh Homme on guitar, and ... drum roll please, Mr. Grohl ... Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones on bass.

"That's the next album," he told Mojo at the time. "That wouldn't suck."

Foo Fighters Frontman Welcomes Second Baby Girl

Last Friday, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and his wife, Jordyn, became the proud parents of their second daughter, Harper Willow Grohl. They had announced the pregnancy to PEOPLE last October.

According to Grohl, the baby is "7 lbs 8 oz, 20 inches long and loud as hell." The special delivery comes just after the third birthday of Grohl's first child, Violet Maye, who was born on April 15th. Both children are named after Grohl's family members -- Violet was his maternal grandmother's name, while Harper comes from his great uncle Harper Bonebrake.

Vedder Talks Cobain, New Album and Tour Plans

Although Kurt Cobain trashed Pearl Jam when he was alive – blaming them in 1992 for "pioneering a corporate, alternative and cock-rock fusion" – singer Eddie Vedder thinks that the late Nirvana frontman would have changed his tune.

"I don't think Kurt understood us at the time, but we became friends and I'm glad we had some of the great conversations we had," Vedder told The Sun while promoting expanded reissues of the band's 1991 debut 'Ten.' "I don't talk too much about him in respect to Krist [Novoselic] and Dave [Grohl] and I know he said that early stuff about not liking us."

Nearly 20 years out from the heyday of grunge, Vedder looks back at the Nirvana-Pearl Jam rivalry with a different twist. "There's a couple of complimentary things that he said in public about me as a human being, which I'm proud exist," he explains. "If Kurt were around today, I know he'd say to me, 'Well, you turned out OK.'"

Vedder also revealed that Pearl Jam is halfway through making its ninth studio album. "It's taken two weeks to get halfway there and that's writing it from the bottom up, so we'll see how long it takes to finish it," the singer says. "We will be playing shows. One of us is having a baby next year, so there'll be no touring then, so we have to get it done this year."

Potent Quotables: Kaki Keeps It Real

Foo Fighters Help Metallica Welcome 'Death'

Earlier this year Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl penned an open letter to Metallica, urging the metal gods not to release new music until it was "kick-ass." Mission: accomplished. Now, Grohl and fellow Foo Taylor Hawkins will help the metal gods celebrate the release of their forthcoming album, 'Death Magnetic,' with a listening party, live from Metallica headquarters on September 4.

A post on the Metallica site reads: "You may have heard a little something about a radio show being broadcast live from our very own HQ. Well, we figured it would be a lot more fun if we invited some 'Tallica fans to come hang with us and low and behold, one thing led to another and Foo Fighters Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins actually said 'Yes!' So on Thursday, September 4, we're going to hang out, play tracks from 'Death Magnetic' and chat with Dave and Taylor."

The one-hour listening party will be streamed on Metallica.com and broadcast on stations around the country.

Foo Fighters Get the Led Out in London

The Foo Fighters were joined onstage by Led Zeppelin's guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones Saturday night as they wrapped up a two night stand at London 's Wembley Stadium. The audience was treated to a pair of Zeppelin classics -- 'Rock and Roll' and 'Ramble On' -- during the encore.

"Tonight playing here at Wembley Stadium is an honor and if we didn't take advantage of this opportunity we'd be crazy," frontman Dave Grohl told the crowd. "We knew from the beginning this wasn't going to be another outdoor show, we have been planning this for six months so we would like to welcome Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones onstage."

The Foo Fighters brainchild and former Nirvana drummer took over the sticks while drummer Taylor Hawkins sang vocals on 'Rock And Roll.' Grohl returned to the mic for a rousing version of 'Ramble On,' telling the crowd, "Welcome to the greatest day of my whole entire life."

Page and Jones last performed publicly in December 2007 with singer Robert Plant at Led Zeppelin's London 02 Arena concert. Reports of a possible Toronto gig this summer, which leaked last month, have subsequently been squashed.

Sir Paul Remembers John and George In Liverpool

Paul McCartney paid tribute to John Lennon and George Harrison when he rocked Liverpool this past Sunday as part of the city's 2008 European Capital of Culture celebrations. The performance -- which also marked to the date the 41st anniversary of the release of the Beatles' landmark 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' -- was held before 36,000 attendees at Anfield Stadium.

Saluting Lennon, his former songwriting partner, McCartney sang 'A Day in the Life' for the first time ever live as Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono looked on. During the performance, McCartney reportedly blew a line, chuckled at his mistake and eventually segued into the Lennon's eternal anti-war missive, 'Give Peace a Chance.'

Sir Paul also paid homage to the late Harrison by performing 'Something' on ukulele, one of Harrison 's favorite instruments. Harrison 's widow, Olivia, also attended the concert.

"Thank you for coming here in the City Of Culture , at the center of the universe," McCartney told the cheering crowd. "I was born just down the road and I lived not far from here. Every time I come back to Liverpool all the memories come flooding back."

McCartney was joined by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who played guitar on 'Band on the Run,' and drums on 'Back in the USSR" and 'I Saw Her Standing There.'
