Brendan Benson Tries to Avoid the Raconteurs' Influence

Between the Raconteurs' hiatus and an upcoming solo album, Detroit-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Brendan Benson has found a great way to occupy his time. "If I'm not working on music then I'm frantically weeding or gardening," Benson tells Spinner. "I'm not too good with knowing the different kinds of flowers but I know a few. There's a few I like, like the dahlia. I do mostly the landscaping part. My girlfriend, she picks out the flowers and stuff. I mostly weed and dig the hole for her to plant them."

But later this summer, Benson will shift his focus from yard work back to music in support of his latest album, 'My Old, Familiar Friend,' which was named for reasons that weren't readily apparent to him. "It's a lyric in one of the songs," Benson says. "It leapt out at me. I had a hard time thinking of a name and then I was listening to the record, trying to think that it might provoke a name. Sure enough, that just kind of popped out at me. I wasn't sure why I liked it. After doing these interviews and answering that question, after being with the Raconteurs and coming back now to my solo stuff, it's like my old familiar friend."

Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones Working on New Project

Remember the summer of 2005? Seems so long ago, doesn't it? Led Zeppelin had yet to reunite (they still do, really), the Foo Fighters had a hit record with 'In Your Honor,' and Queens of the Stone Age released not one but two albums sandwiched by a blockbuster tour. Still, that's the year when Foo frontman Dave Grohl dropped the big one in a Mojo Magazine interview.

No, he wasn't planning on reuniting Nirvana by filming a reality-TV series about the search for Kurt Cobain's replacement. Instead, he was looking to form a new power trio featuring him on drums, naturally, QOTSA's Josh Homme on guitar, and ... drum roll please, Mr. Grohl ... Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones on bass.

"That's the next album," he told Mojo at the time. "That wouldn't suck."

Foo Fighters Frontman Welcomes Second Baby Girl

Last Friday, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and his wife, Jordyn, became the proud parents of their second daughter, Harper Willow Grohl. They had announced the pregnancy to PEOPLE last October.

According to Grohl, the baby is "7 lbs 8 oz, 20 inches long and loud as hell." The special delivery comes just after the third birthday of Grohl's first child, Violet Maye, who was born on April 15th. Both children are named after Grohl's family members -- Violet was his maternal grandmother's name, while Harper comes from his great uncle Harper Bonebrake.

Foo Fighters Hiatus Over?

Last year it was reported that the Foo Fighters would be going on hiatus after they finished touring for 'Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace,' but drumemr Taylor Hawkins tells Spinner it may be a very brief hiatus. "We're writing, working on music intermittently," Hawkins says. "We've already got together and worked on a little bit of stuff, but very tenatively, just ideas. We're just gonna take our time."

Still, Hawkins says the band may pop up in some form for one simple reason -- they like each other. "It would be hard for us to go a year without making music together," he says. "We have fun being together. That's the whole trip -- we still enoy that, whether it's a Neil Diamond cover or whatever. We still like to get in the jam room."

Neil Diamond Honored as MusiCares Person of the Year

"I'm still in a state of shock," Neil Diamond told Spinner in an interview following the MusiCares tribute to him as 2009's Person of the Year, which featured Coldplay, Foo Fighters and Kid Rock, among others, honoring the music legend with renditions of his songs.

Despite a more than 40-year-career of countless successes Diamond remains charmingly humble, to the point he doubted anybody would show. "When they first presented this idea I said to my managers, 'I wouldn't want to be you,' because I didn't think anybody would want to sing my songs," he says. "I'm overwhelmed all this talent showed up."

Foo Fighters Celebrate Thanksgiving on 'Top Chef'

The Foo Fighters will be featured on a special Thanksgiving-themed edition of the Bravo hit TV show 'Top Chef.' Frontman Dave Grohl serves as a guest judge on the episode, titled 'Foo Fighters' Thanksgiving,' which airs Nov. 26. Grohl and his bandmates shot their appearance with star chef Grant Achatz during a Rochester, N.Y. tour stop this past summer.

In advance of the appearance, the band will release their 18-song DVD 'Live at Wembley Stadium' on Nov. 18. The project -- which boasts guest appearances by Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page -- was shot on June 6 and 7 in London .

As for Thanksgiving with the Foos, we're picturing a lot of snickers and innuendos with any mention to stuffing the turkey.

Dave Grohl and Wife Expecting Second Child

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and his wife, Jordyn, confirmed to PEOPLE that they are expecting their second child together.

"We don't talk about how much we drank last night [anymore]," Grohl said of parenthood to the mag in 2007. "[Now] it's how much sleep we got, how much sleep the baby got, diaper rash, formula. We used to go on the road for three months at a time. It's a struggle for me to leave for even 12 days. I realized the life I always imagined beginning once the band ended has to begin now."

Grohl and his wife already have one daughter, Violet Maye, who was born in April 2006.
