Expired Lyrics: Ice Cube

"I had the brew, she had the chronic/The Lakers beat the Supersonics"

--Ice Cube's 'It Was a Good Day' (1993)

The Seattle Supersonics are now the Oklahoma City Thunder, so we'll need to retrofit the first half of this rhyme to match the relocated NBA team's new name. How about "I had the Drano, she had the plunger"? You're welcome, Cube.

Bad Lyric of the Week

"If I eat you like a cannibal, ain't nothin' to it/Gangsta rap made me do it"
--Ice Cube's 'Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It,' from 2008's 'Raw Footage'

If he makes another sequel to 'Are We There Yet,' ain't nothin' to it. Gansta rap made him do it.

Worst Band Feuds: No. 5

Eazy E vs. Dr. Dre/Ice Cube

Fightin' Words: "You got jealous when I got my own company/ But I'm a man, ain't nobody humpin' me" ('No Vaseline,' Ice Cube)

Ice Cube was the first member to leave NWA, in a royalty dispute. Cube's 'A Message to the Oreo Cookie' was interpreted as a dig at Eazy-E. NWA replied with the unmistakable dis 'A Message to B.A.,' which called Cube "Benedict Arnold" and suggested a personal greeting from a broomstick. Cube shot back with with a similar offer in 'No Vaseline' – widely considered one of the all-time best dis songs.

20 Bitter Band Breakups: N.W.A.

N.W.A.

Ice Cube departed N.W.A. in 1989 over a nasty royalty dispute, which set off a war of words. The remaining "four mother f------ goin' crazy" referred to Cube as "Benedict Arnold." Cube retaliated by ripping Eazy-E, Dr. Dre and MC Ren in 'No Vaseline.' As the crew disintegrated, Dr. Dre left Ruthless Records amid accusations that Eazy signed away the group's contract. Eazy-E fired back, calling Dre a "she-thang." When Eazy died in 1995, the feuding stopped out of respect for their former friend.
