Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones Working on New Project

Remember the summer of 2005? Seems so long ago, doesn't it? Led Zeppelin had yet to reunite (they still do, really), the Foo Fighters had a hit record with 'In Your Honor,' and Queens of the Stone Age released not one but two albums sandwiched by a blockbuster tour. Still, that's the year when Foo frontman Dave Grohl dropped the big one in a Mojo Magazine interview.

No, he wasn't planning on reuniting Nirvana by filming a reality-TV series about the search for Kurt Cobain's replacement. Instead, he was looking to form a new power trio featuring him on drums, naturally, QOTSA's Josh Homme on guitar, and ... drum roll please, Mr. Grohl ... Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones on bass.

"That's the next album," he told Mojo at the time. "That wouldn't suck."

Eagles of Death Metal, 'Wannabe in L.A.' -- Video Premiere

Eagles of Death Metal -- the second musical outfit of Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme, who produced the Eagles' forthcoming record, 'Heart On' -- unveiled the video for their first single, 'Wannabe in L.A.' The clip finds a giant Pin Art toy visualizing the band's desire to head out West. Check out the premiere below.

QOTSA's Homme Brings Homophobic Rant to Norway Festival

Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme evidently went mental last Friday at Oslo's Norwegian Wood festival, reacting to a shoe throwing incident with a homophobic rant that he just might struggle to recover from. During a cover of Queen's song '3's and 7's,' Homme was struck and subsequently tore into the young attendee, calling him a "twelve year old c--t", before really letting the kid have it.

Homme clearly overreacted and repeatedly used the term "faggot" while the fan was escorted out. The attendee, who threw up devil horns with his hand and smiled during his forced removal, also received the kind of distasteful threat (suggesting that he and the kid have forcible sex while his friends look on) that you'll have to hear to believe. How ironic that the whole outburst took place during a Queen cover.

Eagles of Death Metal's Hughes Pens Tune for Kat Von D

She was popular enough on TLC's 'Miami Ink' to get her own show on the West Coast, and now tattoo artist Kat Von D has been immortalized in song. Jesse "the Devil" Hughes, frontman for the electric rock combo Eagles of Death Metal, penned 'High Voltage,' a cut expected on his Valentine's Day-due third album, for the body artist.

"Kat Von D is like an object that I'll never be able to obtain, that I infinitely lust after," a crushing Hughes tells Spinner, "but at the same time respect, love and adore as my good friend. So, I wrote her a song."

In fact, his adoration for the tattoo femme fatale led to him allowing her to add to his already eclectic collection of body ink. One of the newest tattoos Von D put on Hughes' frame is in honor of his young son. "I was just about to go on tour and I was really starting to feel the ache of parting with my son for the first time," he says. "So she did this -- 'Little rock 'n' roller: Born 1999.'"

Worst Band Feuds: No. 13

Dwarves vs. QOTSA

Fightin' Words: "Whatcha gonna do?" (QOTSA's Josh Homme, after pouring beer over the Dwarves' Blag Dahlia)

After dousing the Dwarves' frontman at an L.A. nightclub, Homme allegedly bashed him over the head with the bottle. Dahlia joked, "He seemed very angry. It was almost as if somebody made him listen to one of his records." The incident was triggered by a Dwarves lyric addressed to "Queens of the Trust Fund": "You slept on my floor, and now I'm sleeping through your motherf------ album."

Judges' Decision: Dwarves in a technicality -- Homme sentenced to anger management

Dax Riggs Turns King of the Road With Queens

Following his set at Austin City Limits next weekend, Dax Riggs and his new band will hit the road supporting Queens of the Stone Age. The tour will be a fine fitting, as Riggs independently developed a similar, though slightly bluesier sound to the Queens, from his home base in Houma, Louisiana, around the same time Josh Homme was starting his stoner-rocking project.

After already spending time on the road with QOTSA associates Eagles of Death Metal and Peaches, joining the 'Era Vulgaris' rockers on the upcoming trek is a bonding opportunity not to be missed, the singer/guitarist said. "Absolutely!" Riggs enthuses when Spinner suggests the two outfits are like-minded souls. "It's one of the few bands that we fit on a bill with. And, their fans could be receptive to us."

Brody Dalle Spins Past the Distillers

Quite a few things have changed since we last saw Miss Brody Dalle lead the Distillers across the globe in support of their third album, 'Coral Fang.' She became a Mrs. to Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, a mom to beautiful baby Camille and sent out word she'd started a new band, Spinnerette, after disbanding the Distillers.

"The Distillers aren't over per se," she tells Spinner. "it's just not the same."

Not over, but Dalle's Distillers are definitely on the shelf thanks to two of her bandmates -- bassist Ryan Sinn (Angels and Airwaves) and drummer Andy Granelli (now with Los Angeles dream rockers Darker My Love) -- having flown the coop. In part, Dalle blames the departures on her unwillingness to force out a fourth record immediately after the 'Coral Fang' tour.
