Potent Quotables: Lily's Naughty Ways

"People say, 'You're bad. Go think about what you've done.' Who, at age 23, hasn't passed out from alcohol?"--Lily Allen

The lippy Limey defended her notoriously debauched behavior in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Lily Allen Apologizes for Drunken Behavior

Lily Allen has apologized for her drunken antics at the Glamour Women of the Year awards in London on Tuesday night. The 'Smile' singer -- who had died her hair pink prior to the event -- had to be carried out by security. According to reports, Allen got blasted on a variety of drinks, including champagne, gin, vodka and Asahi beer to the point where she was unable to walk.

"I got very drunk last night, too drunk," Allen blogged Wednesday, posting a photo of herself working off her hangover. "It's not cool getting that drunk. I feel awful and I have to thank my little brother Alf for getting me home safely. Kids, drink responsibly or you'll end up looking like this, not pretty! Was quite fun though, from what I can remember. Need fry up now."

Meanwhile, Allen has recorded a duet with the Kaiser Chiefs for their forthcoming album with producer Mark Ronson, according to a report by 'The Sun.'

Potent Quotables: Lucid Lily Battles Boredom

"I've been sad and quite lonely recently. If you're young [and] living in London, unless you drink and take a lot of drugs, there's not much to do."

The once alcohol- and dope-addled lippy Limey confessed that she's at a bit of a loss since deciding not to go back to her partying ways.

Lily Allen and Ed Simons Break Up

Only a month into 2008, it's already been a rough year for Lily Allen.

In December 2007, the singer announced that she and boyfriend of three months, Chemical Brothers' Ed Simons, were pregnant. Sadly, one month later, she suffered a miscarriage. Now, the Sun is reporting that Allen, 22, and Simons, 37, have parted ways.

A source close to the 'Smile' singer told the British magazine, "They tried to make things work but couldn't. The miscarriage was a horrible experience for both of them." Read the full story.

Meanest Love Songs: No. 1

'Smile'
--Lily Allen (2006)

The Kiss-Off: "When I see you cry, it makes me smile"

He calls her up for "a whine and a moan," but he was the one shagging the girl next door. Allen, who, according to her mother, once OD'd and slit her wrists over a boyfriend, gets the last laugh: 'Smile' was a U.K. No. 1.

Lily Allen Suffers Miscarriage

The 22-year-old singer is "in a state of shock" after losing her baby. Allen had just returned from a vacation in the Maldives with her partner, musician Ed Simons of the Chemical Brothers.

Allen's representative told The Sun, "We can confirm that Lily Allen has suffered a miscarriage. She and her partner Ed Simons will be making no further comment and we ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time."

Her debut album, 'Alright, Still,' is nominated for a Grammy. She is expected to release its follow-up later this year.

Potent Quotables: Lily Admits She's Too Young

"I'm not the best example." -- Lily Allen

The 22-year-old pregnant pop star explained to the Daily Mirror why she wouldn't be taking up offers to be the spokesgirl for maternity.

Best Songs of 2007: No. 9

'Smile,' Lily Allen

She's bratty, brash and absolutely brimming with opinions, and her debut single is no exception. A biting jab at a cheating former boyfriend, Allen's sweetly sung vocals and ska-happy organ sample belie the adolescent anger and just plain piss and vinegar of her lyrics. This song is what No Doubt-era Gwen Stefani would sound like if she'd been born upper crust in West London.

Kate Nash Picks Up the Pace

Anglophiles are certainly familiar with Kate Nash, the young singer-songwriter who went from Internet sensation to scoring a No. 1 album in the U.K. with her effort, 'Made of Bricks.' It also didn't hurt that admirer Lily Allen moved Nash into her top eight friends on MySpace. When Nash made her American debut playing a string of NYC shows a couple of months back, she got to see first hand the results of cyber stardom.

"I've never played music and done press here [yet] people know who I am and there's awareness. It's really incredible," Nash tells Spinner. "It just speeds things up and you have to be up for the pace of it."

While Nash is more than up for the pace, she admits that there were some nerves coming Stateside, something she'll be doing much more of in the new year when she kicks off a U.S. tour in January. "I was nervous doing my shows 'cause I was like, 'God, are they just looking at me going, "What the hell is this weird English girl going on about?"' she says. "In my head, they can't really know who I am. I do gigs in London now and I'm very comfortable. It's like I'm being taken out of the bath and thrown in a cold shower. I've got to keep up and start again."

Lily Allen Is Pregnant

OK, so like, babies are totally the new handbag. Seriously though. Look at Nicole Richie. Christina Aguilera. J.Lo. Sheryl Crow. Amy Winehouse admits to wanting one. Britney Spears has two under her belt while it was announced on Tuesday that her sister, Jamie Lynn, is now pregnant. See what you started, Angelina? Nevertheless, it's with open arms that Club Knocked Up welcomes Lily Allen, who is pregnant with her first child with boyfriend Ed Simons, 37, of the Chemical Brothers.

"As the pregnancy is at a very, very early stage, the couple ask that you respect their privacy," the 22-year-old singer's rep said in a statement. "The couple will be making no further comment but they are obviously both thrilled by the news."

Meanwhile, Allen is currently working on the follow-up to her 2006 Grammy-nominated debut, 'Alright, Still,' which was previously scheduled for release in 2008. Despite rumors to the contrary, the album will hit shelves on time. "Lily's new album will be released as planned next year," her rep confirmed.

Deborah Harry Goes It Without Blondie on Record and Onscreen

After spending the past several years touring and recording with Blondie, frontwoman Deborah Harry has finally stepped back into the solo world with 'Necessary Evil,' her first album without her Blondie cohorts in 14 years. Still, the band mates she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 with aren't far from her, as Chris Stein lends his production talent to a couple of tracks on the record.

Nonetheless, the 62-year-old singer and actress felt it was important to do this one on her own, and she did just that. Harry was involved in all aspects of the release, including artwork and marketing. When she talks to Spinner on a rare day off for her, it is apparent she is loving the hands-on approach. That was just one of the things -- along with her next acting role, what love is to her, and how she's getting better with age -- that this true New Wave icon had to say in this engaging conversation.

There's a lot of talk about love on 'Necessary Evil.' Is that a central theme to the album?

I realized at the end that I was referencing relationships a lot and the idea of actually finding out what is love. So I ended up writing that song ['What Is Love'] because it seemed like everything that I was writing about was about relationships, and most popular music is actually written about that. As a matter of fact, most things that we read in our lives, or films or books, it's usually about looking for love.

What is love to you, then?

I don't know if I really have an answer. Judging from my work experience collaborating with different people and being in a band, I think love is being able to step down from your ego trip and to make room for another person and to be able to share an experience with another person and not be the one who has to be the most paramount person or the one who does all the talking or the thinking -- unless, of course, the other person wants that from you. So it's the idea of actually sharing, I guess.

Lily Allen Covers E.L.O.'s 'Mr. Blue Sky'

Lily Allen may be working on new material for her forthcoming album, slated to be released in 2009 -- yes, 2009 -- but you're not going to hear it anytime soon. However, the lippy Limey was generous enough to release her cover of Electric Light Orchestra's 'Mr. Blue Sky,' a song rumored to be on said new album. The rendition was originally recorded for a French mobile commercial, but can also be heard in its entirety through this video clip, which displays a still image of the British pop star Photoshopped in a cartoonish barber outfit.

Musicians Box Out to Help Fight Hunger

To help combat world hunger, musicians, actors, models, photographers, celebrity chefs and more recently got in touch with their inner designer to create unique takes on the always useful, sometimes stylish lunchbox.

On Dec. 7 at 12AM EST, the Food Bank of New York City and the Lunchbox Fund of South Africa will auction off each celeb-approved food carrier to raise funds for their charitable organizations' "war against poverty." The results from the initiative, which first took place in 2005, and raised more than a hundred thousand dollars for hunger relief, are rather intriguing.

Lily Allen, for example, went for a collage-like street-art style, while Kanye West opted for minimal design and a message of hope. Sam Fogarino of Interpol blended his band's black-and-red aesthetic with its newfound appreciation for wild animals and Rufus Wainwright ... well, he got a little overzealous with the Bedazzler.

See these and more designs from 2007 and 2005 Lunchbox Auction participants after the jump.

Lily Allen Diagnosed With Heart Condition

Lily Allen doesn't subscribe to the various diets that populate the celebrity realm. Rather, the British singer contributes her newly svelte figure to a heart murmur, which Allen was diagnosed with three months ago.

"I used to love nothing more than sitting in front of the telly with two packets of Ginger Nuts and two bags of milk bottle sweets --- and I'd devour the lot," Allen told Garcia magazine. "But this heart thing has made me cut back on all that kind of crap. I now find that, because I am looking after myself, I don't feel like eating the bad stuff so much."

The singer has dropped from a U.K. size 12 to a size eight since her diagnosis and feels it necessary to reiterate the impetus behind her newfound focus on health.

"I really want to stress that I haven't done this because I want to become some skinny minnie," she said. "I will never be like that."
