'Ebony and Ivory'
--Paul McCartney & Stevie Wonder (1982)

This infamous duet offers proof that combining two great musicians with a positive message does not necessarily guarantee a great song. The cheesy easy-listening tune made its way to the top of the charts, but once the initial success died down, Stevie and Macca fans alike had to repress its memory deep into their collective subconscious.

Billy Joel Rocks Shea With Special Guests

Last night Billy Joel said goodbye to New York's Shea Stadium, with a little help from his friends. The site of both the first-ever stadium concert in rock history, put on in 1965 by the Beatles, and myriad historical Mets moments, including their 1969 Miracle season, Shea Stadium is dear to many a music and sports fan's heart.

"They're gonna be tearing this place down," the Long Island native told the crowd, "but I want to thank you ... for letting me do the best job in the world." The baseball stadium will be demolished to make way for the new Citi Field. Throughout the night, Joel was joined on stage by the likes of Tony Bennett, Paul McCartney, Roger Daltrey and Steven Tyler -- who each treated the sold-out crowd of more than 55,000 people to selections of their own songs. Neil Young Covers the Beatles' 'A Day in the Life'

It took Paul McCartney more than 40 years to perform the Beatles' 'A Day in the Life' -- from the 1967's iconic 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' -- which he did last month during a concert in Liverpool. Now, Neil Young is covering the classic tune as an encore on his European summer tour. Warning: the video, shot at Malahide Castle in Dublin, Ireland, is rather shakey, but the audio is solid. Happy Canada Day, Neil!

Sir Paul Remembers John and George In Liverpool

Paul McCartney paid tribute to John Lennon and George Harrison when he rocked Liverpool this past Sunday as part of the city's 2008 European Capital of Culture celebrations. The performance -- which also marked to the date the 41st anniversary of the release of the Beatles' landmark 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' -- was held before 36,000 attendees at Anfield Stadium.

Saluting Lennon, his former songwriting partner, McCartney sang 'A Day in the Life' for the first time ever live as Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono looked on. During the performance, McCartney reportedly blew a line, chuckled at his mistake and eventually segued into the Lennon's eternal anti-war missive, 'Give Peace a Chance.'

Sir Paul also paid homage to the late Harrison by performing 'Something' on ukulele, one of Harrison 's favorite instruments. Harrison 's widow, Olivia, also attended the concert.

"Thank you for coming here in the City Of Culture , at the center of the universe," McCartney told the cheering crowd. "I was born just down the road and I lived not far from here. Every time I come back to Liverpool all the memories come flooding back."

McCartney was joined by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who played guitar on 'Band on the Run,' and drums on 'Back in the USSR" and 'I Saw Her Standing There.'

Paul McCartney Follows in Prince's Footsteps

Anything Prince can do, Paul McCartney can do better. Well, except for wear tights. We'll leave that to the Purple One.

Nevertheless, McCartney will give away his latest album, 'Memory Almost Full', in editions of the UK newspaper, Mail on Sunday. Originally released on Starbucks' Hear Music label, the disc will be free to buyers of the May 18 edition of the paper.

In related news, Beatles fans are abuzz over a rumor that Sir McCartney and Ringo Starr might reunite to perform onstage at Liverpool's upcoming Sound City music festival. Macca is set to take the stage for the event, which will celebrate the Beatles' hometown being named 2008's Capital of Culture.

Rocker's Divorcee Inspires Wet 'n' Wild Game

When Paul McCartney's relationship with former model Heather Mills first went public, the news made quite a splash. The eternally boyish Beatle was back in the water after being left high and dry by the death of his Lovely Linda just a few years prior.

Water, in fact, proved a useful metaphor when McCartney's album 'Driving Rain' came out in 2001. Noted for its gushing love songs, the record celebrated long drives "straight to the eye of the hurricane," encouraged his new lover to 'Rinse the Raindrops' and imagined their world inside a 'Tiny Bubble.'

Seven years later, the couple's recent, highly publicized divorce proceedings featured an altogether different need for an umbrella. When Mills learned that the judge had decided in her ex-husband's favor, granting her $48 million -- considerably less than she'd been seeking -- Mills reportedly doused Fiona Shackleton, McCartney's lawyer, with a pitcher of water. Eyewitnesses claim Mills all but admitted the episode when she explained that Shackleton had been "baptized in court."

Now the incident has inspired an online game called Splash & Grab, in which players view the courtroom from the perspective of Ms. Mills, trying to douse McCartney and his lawyer as they pop up, Whack-a-Mole style. Each direct hit soaks Sir Paul for a bigger portion of his liquid assets. The catch: if you accidentally hit the judge, points are deducted.

And there's not a dry eye in the house.

Heather Mills Gets $49 Million From McCartney in Divorce Settlement

Heather Mills says she is "so happy" with the almost $49 million she will get from ex-husband Paul McCartney. The settlement came today from London's High Court. Mills was all smiles as she spoke to reporters outside the courtroom, saying she was "glad it was over." She went on to blame McCartney for making details of their split public.

"I am standing here because Paul is insistent on the whole judgment being put out," she said. "I've said that if the whole judgment goes out then all the transcripts have to go out, because it's going to be written in a way that they will try and make it that I wasn't successful."

McCartney didn't have much to say to the press, other than "All will be revealed." He will have to pay Mills a lump sum of $33 million, and she will keep existing assets that total more than $15 million. McCartney himself is believed to be worth about $1.7 billion, though the judge found him to have assets totaling only about half of that.

McCartney and Mills were married for less than four years. They have a young daughter, Beatrice, for whom they maintain joint custody. Read the full story here.

Apple (Records) Denies Deal With Apple (Computer) for Beatles Catalog

British newspaper the Telegraph has reported that after years of the Beatles' music catalog being one of the last major collections not available on iTunes, Paul McCartney has reached an agreement with Apple (Computer) to carry the Fab Four's Apple (Records) output.

Trouble is, the Beatles' longtime label denies such a deal is done. And While Sir Paul has stated in the recent past that an Apple-Apple contract is all but inevitable, the idea that there is no agreement does seem the more likely scenario. After all, would it really make sense for McCartney to ink such a lucrative contract, clearly worth multimillions, while he is in hotly contested divorce settlement talks with Heather Mills?
