George Thorogood Takes MLB Owners to Task Over Steroids

''Lonesome" George Thorogood is far better equipped than most to speak about the ongoing steroids controversy in baseball. Prior to being 'Bad to the Bone,' Thorogood was a semi-pro baseball player who, even today, speaks as passionately about Sandy Koufax versus Bob Gibson as the Rolling Stones versus the Beatles.

So, who does the guitar slinger think is responsible for the steroids controversy that has dogged baseball for more than a decade and has implicated such major players as Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Roger Clemens and Alex Rodriguez? "If Keith Richards wrote the number one song of all time back in 1973 and he was mixing cocaine with heroin to do it, what do you think the president of that company and the producer of the record would give him?" Thorogood asks Spinner. "They all understood what was going on. Everybody knew what was going on. Nobody cared because the ball was going into the seats. That thing had been going on for years; somebody was gonna find an edge."

Kenny Loggins Rewrites Feist's '1,2,3,4' Due to 'Dark' Lyrics

When Kenny Loggins went to record Feist's smash '1, 2, 3, 4' for his new album of children's music, 'All Join In,' the singer was sure it was a fit. Until he sang it.

"'1, 2, 3, 4' seems like a lighthearted song, but it's very dark lyrically," Loggins tells Spinner. "And if you really drop into the lyrics, it just didn't feel appropriate to have an 11-year-old singing. It's more of a grown woman talking about the condition of her life at this moment."

So, as he had to do with a couple of other songs, including the Beatles' 'All Together Now,' Loggins set about making some lyrical changes, which requires the permission from the artists. "I ended up dealing directly with Feist because my son knows her and thinks she's a sweetheart," he says.

Paul McCartney Wants to 'Dance' With MGMT

We'd bet that few 66-year-olds are familiar with MGMT. But Paul McCartney isn't your average sexagenarian. You knew that already. The former Beatle recently voiced his MGMT fandom, and admits he'd like to work with the Brooklyn indie duo.

"I like MGMT," McCartney said. "I'd like to work on some more dancey stuff with [them]. But it has to happen organically. I can't call them. If they called me, I'd say, 'How did you get my number?' But I'd do it."

'The Beatles: Rock Band' Details Unveiled by McCartney, Starr

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr reunited onstage yesterday to promote 'The Beatles: Rock Band' video game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo. The two surviving Beatles appeared alongside Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison, the respective widows of John Lennon and George Harrison, at a conference at the University of Southern California in advance of the game's September 9 release.

"Whoever thought we'd end up as androids?" McCartney joked. To which Starr added, "The game is good, the graphics are good and we look great."

Bob Dylan Wants to Collaborate With Paul McCartney

If pulling down the No. 1 slot in both the U.K. and U.S. album charts wasn't enough this week, Bob Dylan also caused a stir by revealing his desire to team up with Paul McCartney for an upcoming studio project.

Dylan, who reportedly sold 125,000 copies of his 33rd studio offering, 'Together Through Life,' said he'd definitely be up for a collaborative session with Macca. "That would be exciting, to do something with Paul," Dylan told Rolling Stone. "But, you know, your paths have to cross for something like that to make sense."

Paul McCartney Delivers Emotional Performance at Coachella

At Coachella on Friday night, Paul McCartney honored those that have passed, and, in his own way, made them very much alive, in an unusually emotional performance. It was the 11th anniversary of the death of his wife Linda. "But she loved the desert, she loved music," said McCartney, who performed a two-and-a-half hour set containing many Beatles tunes in a charged performance that was as poignant as it was celebratory. In addition to giving shout-outs to his late ex-Beatles John Lennon and George Harrison, Sir Paul also prefaced 'Blackbird' by explaining that it was written in the 1960's as a response to the civil rights movement. "Now you've got President Obama," he said proudly. "We've come a long way."

Macca performed songs from throughout his music career including hits from his "other" band Wings, as well as newer ones from his electronica-tinged "alter-ego" Fireman. But it was his generous dip into the Beatles canon, which included 'Eleanor Rigby,' 'A Day in the Life,' 'Give Peace a Chance,' 'Back in the USSR,' 'Paperback Writer,' 'Can't Buy Me Love,' 'Get Back,' 'Hey Jude' and 'Let It Be' that kept the crowd hanging on till the final notes.

George Harrison Gets Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

George Harrison became the newest recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday with a little help from his friends.

By "friends" we mean former Beatles mate Sir Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Tom Hanks and a number of other luminaries. Fittingly, Harrison's star, unveiled by his widow, Olivia, and son, Dhani, is right in front of the Capitol Records building and a few stars down from that of John Lennon, who is the only other Beatle to have his own star.

McCartney didn't speak, but catered to the crowd -- several hundred people strong -- at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine. He waved, smiled and charmingly pretended to polish Harrison's star.
